Description

Cost of the workshop is £65 . This does not include fabric. Join Great British Sewing Bee Alumni Mitch Bridgewater For a fun day playing With fabric, making a fun & practical casual shirt.

Appearing on Series 8 of The Great British Sewing Bee, Mitch loves making clothes that are comfortable, personal and practical for wearing everyday. After spending years struggling to find any men's clothing that expressed his personality, working in a office in uninspired and uncomfortable pastel coloured plastic shirts, Mitch taught himself to sew (with help from his wife and mum) during Covid-19 lockdown to battle lockdown blues, and set himself a mission to create a wardrobe he loved, a wardrobe full of colour, patterns and comfort. Mitch got carried away and not only did he make enough shirts to wear everyday
of the year but went on to make a huge variety of garments for friends and family, falling more and more in love with sewing with each make. A journey that led to appearing on the Great British Sewing Bee and being recruited as consultant editor for Love Sewing Magazine.

After appearing on TV, Mitch has channelled his love of making into passing on the skills he’s learnt and getting people making things with their hands, running a variety of crafting workshops, events and talks all over the UK. Mitch started sewing with lots of recycled fabrics from charity shops, but when he was brave enough, bought his first fresh cotton from Superior Sewing to make the first shirt that was made completely how he wanted it - from thread colour, to fabric pattern to button design.
In this one day workshop, Mitch will help guide you through making one of his favourite everyday shirts. Taking you back to the start of Mitch’s sewing journey, you can pick your fabric from the incredible range of materials at Superior, find your matching thread and favourite buttons. Across the day we’ll go from raw materials to a fully wearable, completely individual casual shirt. Mitch will walk through every step of the process with you sharing tips and tricks he has picked up along the way.
