Using SneakerKit soles and paper patterns, in this workshop we will learn the anatomy of a quilted sneaker, quilt and bind the uppers, fit the eyelets and attach the soles. We might even make our own laces!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eYour sneakers may use different fabrics for the uppers, tongues, lining and binding, or you may decide to do the uppers and tongues (for example) in the same fabric. We will not be piecing (patchworking) the sneakers, but we will talk about how to do that for your next pair.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWorkshop kit will include\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eA set of soles in your chosen size and colour\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eFabrics for uppers, tongues, lining and binding – please choose these in the shop before the workshop\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eThreads for quilting and construction\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eThe interfacings needed to provide structure\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eA set of eyelets in gold, silver or gunmetal – if you would like coloured eyelets, you will need 35 x 5mm eyelets (including spares)\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eWaxed cord (same colour as soles) to attach uppers to soles and needle – if you would like to use coloured cord, you will need 5 metres of 1mm waxed cotton cord\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSewing machines, rotary cutters and mats, ironing stations, and equipment for inserting eyelets will be available. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eYou will need:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eYour downloaded and printed paper pattern in your size (link will be provided), pencil, paper scissors\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eShoelaces in the colour of your choice – up to 150cm recommended, although 120cm will work. Flat (rather than round) suggested. Instructions for making fabric laces will be provided.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eSewing kit – scissors, snips, hand needles, pins, magic clips, chalk pencil or preferred fabric marker, seam ripper, thimble.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eIf you have one, a tailor’s awl\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eSoles:\u003c\/strong\u003e the soles come in European whole sizes from 36 to 47, and in black, white and tan.
